Attached is a photo with some indigenous friends, they were glad to finally meet him after my long wait in Gove.

I will probably extend for a least another 4 weeks. Leanne

Dear Breastexpress Team, I just wanted to quickly leave a note on your website as I was so pleased with your service and the pump that I got from you a few weeks ago. You couldn’t have made it any easier for me. As a 2nd time Mum – but really inexperienced with expressing – I needed someone like you and I am glad that my midwife recommended your website to me. I wasn’t very much into expressing at all when I had my first baby, my son who is almost 3 now. But having got back some independence since he became a bit older I felt like giving expressing another chance when my little babygirl was born. And to be honest I should have done it earlier. No idea why I was so apprehensive. My husband is giving our daughter the nightfeed in a bottle with expressed milk now – his opportunity to bond, my chance to catch up with some sleep. Wonderful. And also it’s so much easier to store breastmilk than I thought. Now where I am much more confident with all of that I even thought about expressing milk for the time when I will have weaned her off. Just to have in the freezer in case you need it. It still is the best you can give to a baby. But luckily that’s still some months away. Thanks so much again. BJG

I would like to share a story about the my friend who recently had her third child at 43.

Godmama as my family call her (she attended the birth of my 2 children & is their Godmama) thought she was going through “change of life” to go on & learn she was actually pregnant with her third. Her 12 week check up showed she had a one in six chance of the baby being Down Syndrome.

When the result came back positive Godmama & her husband were stunned to the core. In her words “I thought I was going to be sick” then I went through the guilt about the impact it would have on the other children (both under 5) & who would look after the baby when they were older.

They did lots of research & learnt about all the health issues that can be associated with Down Syndrome babies & prepared themselves for the what was to come. Right from the start they never wavered from the thought of going through with the pregnancy.

Early testing started to show the baby (a girl) had no heart defects, no palate issues that they could detect, in fact not too much untoward at all.

The pregnancy progressed well with both parents continuing to learn more about Down Syndrome & find out what impact it was going to have on all their lives once the baby was born & beyond.

Little Kate Rose was borne strong and healthy and further testing has shown that Kate is defying all the medical profession to show amazing strength & wellness.

Godmama’s words “we wouldn’t have it any other way. We would not swap this journey. I wouldn’t even swap the down syndrome because our family is now complete, I don’t even see the down syndrome when I look at her, Kate is the joy of my life”

Footnote: As Kate was unable to attach correctly to the breast, Godmama was relieved to find that the Ameda Elite Hospital Grade Breast Pump came to the rescue & expressed with the ease & efficiency required, to maintain Kate’s health & weight for an extended period. In fact Kate was exclusively fed expressed milk most successfully and is thriving.
